Chemistry Students Must Know How To Study Crystals

Chemistry Students Must Know How To Study CrystalsChemistry students should be familiar with a wide variety of substances, from lead to lithium, so understanding the properties of a transparent material is not only essential but can have a significant impact on a student's studies. A chemical's transparency is often described as an element's ability to transmit light or heat, and is measured in degrees Celsius. When it comes to studying a substance's properties, transparency is often thought of in terms of its colour, as blue for water and white for oil. For some students, however, transparent materials such as glass and polystyrene can have important properties. Understanding how the transparent surface works can enable a student to demonstrate properties in different ways, and therefore enhance learning.A very common transparent compound is a form of carbon called polystyrene (PS), which is made from Styrofoam by exposing it to sunlight or water vapour, causing it to become transluc ent and distorted, similar to the state of matter, called 'gas' by the science world. Because it retains a high level of transparency, PS can be used to study physical properties such as the refractive index and thermal conductivity. It can also be used to study the shape of crystals in a crystal lattice.A much more difficult material to study is glass, which are formed in both crystal and crystalline phases, and which can have a major impact on the way a student uses chemicals in their Chemistry tests. Chemicals that are transparent often absorb energy from light, making them ideal for use in lighting up a crystal lattice. Similarly, in order to make the phenomenon work, a glass must have holes in it, which can change its properties. Since these molecules are extremely large, the crystal structure can sometimes be distorted, producing pockets in which molecules or atoms are missing, and these are where new compounds can form. Therefore, the behaviour of this type of material can be highly complex and can involve manipulating on a large scale. These films can also change the colour of the surrounding materials, as some materials will absorb some wavelengths of light and transmit others. In terms of light, if a crystal lattice can show patterns, this could be explained by the absorption of light of certain wavelengths and emission of other wavelengths.Although these crystals can be broken by strong light, it can also be possible to create weakly transparent materials, which behave like crystals, but only at very small scales. While less likely to be used in a practical setting, crystals can be used in other applications, such as, for example, dye crystalline materials, which can be designed to determine substances in liquids. Due to the property of fluorescence, they can even act as probes for microscopic imaging, helping scientists to see inside the material at a level far below that of visible light. The most easily used form of this transparent film is with ma terials such as glass, which makes the most likely candidate for a chemist with a very keen eye for detail and a canny student of physics. This material is also used in a vast array of situations, and its properties can be seen in many elements, including aluminium, chromium, copper, gallium, iron, mercury, manganese, silver, silicon, vanadium, zinc, and other elements. A Chemist who truly understands how this property works will be able to combine it with other sciences and their properties will be greatly enhanced.Students of Physics books may be familiar with 'crystals', which are a very common element in nature, which may not have any other chemical properties. With the help of clear films, students may be able to follow this principle and find ways to analyse and understand these materials, and therefore enhance their studies.

Minnesota Tutors

Minnesota TutorsTutor time Minnesota is a service that provides the opportunity for tutors in various Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to access tutoring services. One of the very unique aspects of this service is that it offers an online service where the tutor can access his or her assigned tutors from anywhere around the country. The best part is that the tutor does not have to be present in the room with the student to serve as the actual tutor. This allows the tutor to work at home and take breaks while on his or her travels.Minnesota tutors have more flexibility than they would ever be able to experience while in a college classroom. Tutors can use a laptop and have their own internet connection without needing to be connected to a teacher's computer. This means that students will have easy access to their instructors on the go. There are many benefits to this service including the convenience of not having to worry about your schoolwork while on the road.Tutors have t o find the time to travel to different states each semester, so being able to take courses from the comfort of home is invaluable. A student who works on campus may find that a professor needs to leave for a few hours so that he or she can teach or give some guidance. Many colleges offer this service as a way to increase enrollment, but students who work with a tutor from Minnesota will be able to take classes from the comfort of their own homes, which is always a plus. The convenience of using an online tutoring service for Minnesota tutors is one reason why they are so popular. If you go to a college or university in Minnesota, you will find that many professors do have their own computers, but they also tend to keep the majority of their work done online. Online tutoring is one way for Minnesota college students to be able to use their online computer in the classroom. It allows for their professors to continue to work while allowing them to take a break from their online class sc hedule.Another reason that Minnesota tutors are so popular is that they tend to be younger than most college professors. These are some of the students who need the attention of a college professor, but who may not want to have to commute from home every semester. Those students who take classes from a tutoring service will not have to deal with the problems of having to commute as much. Many students opt to enroll in online classes because of the convenience of taking the courses from a tutoring service. They are able to have the class working from home, making the time spent traveling to classes seem less essential. Students who work with a tutor from Minnesota will also have the benefit of not having to spend the same amount of time commuting as they would if they were working in the classroom. They can also save the money spent on gas to attend classes in a traditional classroom. It is important to think about the services you can get from a tutoring service before signing up. Che ck out the price of the service, especially the cost per hour for the tutor to work from home. Sometimes the cost of the tutor will be more than the cost of the course itself.

Tips For Choosing a Mathematics Tutor

Tips For Choosing a Mathematics TutorOne of the most helpful aspects of a tutoring system for students who have not yet graduated from high school is the ability to attend classes without fear of distraction or being unable to focus. In addition, many parents can now help their child graduate from school and have a great college experience. When choosing which teaching method will best work for your child, remember that there are a variety of factors to consider such as physical fitness, effort, and the amount of time to dedicate to each subject. To help you choose the best method for your child, the following information should be considered.Studies have shown that students who successfully complete classes in algebra perform better on standardized tests than students who do not take algebra classes. In addition, students who take advanced algebra classes on a regular basis perform better on standardized tests. In the world of mathematics, getting help with algebra is crucial. Altho ugh there are many methods to teach algebra, whether the student has to do the work in a small group or by oneself is up to each individual parent. Parents may even decide to see how much time they have available to spend on their child's math homework.Whether it is a computer tutor, a tutor that teaches through DVDs, a private tutor, or a private tutor that meets in person, a student should make sure that they select a tutor that has a proven track record of success in their algebra class. If your child has difficulty with one subject, then he or she should not expect to succeed in any subject. For example, a child who struggles with algebra may struggle with geometry or trigonometry, too. He or she may find this intimidating because the level of understanding is similar between subjects. What may help with one subject will not help with another. When selecting a tutor for your child, take some time to look around at other tutoring services that are available. Some popular tutoring services include Varsity Tutors, as well as tutoring companies that specialize in either online tutoring or in-person tutoring. A student should try to find tutors in his or her area. That way, he or she can set up an appointment for a tutor to meet with the child. To ensure that the tutor can meet your child's needs, the child should ask questions and ensure that he or she is comfortable with the tutor. Once the tutor meets the student, this is the time to evaluate how well the student is progressing.A tutor should be flexible when making changes to his or her schedule to meet the needs of your child. The tutor should be honest with his or her students and is also sensitive to any expectations that the student may have. Most importantly, the tutor should be able to adapt to the student's ability to learn new concepts, and this should be expressed by how quickly the student is able to grasp new concepts. If the tutor is not able to offer clear explanations for their suggestions, the n this may cause disruption in the learning process.Once your child is comfortable with the tutor, it is important that parents remain engaged in their children's education. Many parents have found that it is helpful to read about how algebra works in order to better understand the concept of algebra. This information should be shared with the child so that he or she can understand what is expected of him or her. Also, be sure that you let the tutor know how much you expect from him or her. It is important to stay in touch with the tutor to make sure that the lessons are progressing according to plan.Once the tutoring sessions are completed, you can review the progress of your child. If any problems were encountered, be sure to contact the tutor immediately. It is also important to see the tutoring company again to see if your child needs additional help with specific areas. Having these issues addressed early will give your child a chance to increase his or her understanding of alg ebra and math concepts.

SSAT Prep Tips for Your Child

SSAT Prep Tips for Your Child As a parent, you of course want the best for your child. While theyre largely in charge of their own willingness to learn, there are many ways you can help your child prepare for standardized tests, particularly when it comes to SSAT prep for your child. The SSAT is a standardized test used to help assess the capabilities of students who are trying to enroll in an independent school. Some SSAT prep tips for your child include helping him or her understand the makeup of the test, explaining what the environment will be like, and simply being encouraging and positive as they prepare. Help interpret the SSAT test Students who enter into a test feeling prepared are likely going to be more confident, which often leads to better scores. This begins with a basic knowledge of the structure, timing, and possible outcomes of the exam. Make sure your student knows what the test is used for and how it is graded. The SSAT covers reading, math, and verbal skills and is offered in either the Standard variation (given on eight Saturdays during the academic year around the world) or the Flex variation (given to an individual or group on a date outside the Standard range). The SSAT is given at three levels, including: Elementary (3rd and 4th grade) Middle (5th through 7th grade) Upper (8th through 11th grade) It is a norm-referenced test, meaning it compares individual scores against results from a statistically selected group of test takers who have previously taken the exam. Administer SSAT practice tests You can begin assisting your student by administering SSAT practice tests to identify places he or she may need to study further. Do this at the start of your preparation, and repeat the process as your student works to build skills. Approximate the testing environment as best as you can, timing your student, replicating a quiet place, and administering breaks, etc. in the same way your child will experience on test day. Practice SSAT skills at home You can practice building reading, math, and verbal skills at home with your student. To practice reading and verbal skills, have your student report on the books he or she is reading, or read a book as a family. Define vocabulary words, review plot, and talk about word origins. Afterwards, you might have your student practice the written portion by responding to a book-related prompt or another prompt that you develop. Review together for elements like punctuation and clarity of ideas. Work on math skills by doing problems together or getting a book of fun math activities. Problems on the SSAT tend to focus on spatial skills, patterns, and sequencing, which can be fun skills to work on together. Help build confidence for SSAT test day Many students develop test anxiety when theyre studying for a large standardized test, so do what you can to combat this. Equip your student with coping mechanisms (like meditation, deep breaths, or repetition) that can be practiced before and even during test day. Let your child know that youre proud of his or her efforts. Before the test, make sure your child is well rested, has a nutritious meal, and is comfortable. It can be useful to review basic tips with your student: read and thoroughly follow directions, finish the question before reviewing the answers, pace yourself, and so on. If your child is taking the Elementary SSAT, encourage him or her to answer every question, as there is no penalty for incorrect answers. For the other two levels, wrong answers do deduct points, so explain to your child what that means and how that might alter his or her approach. [RELATED:How is the SSAT Scored?] Reviewing basic test-taking practices with your child can be helpful and also boost confidence, though you should be careful about introducing new information to your child directly before the test, as it may cause more anxiety. If you decide to seek further assistance for your child, SSAT tutoring may provide the extra help needed. With a little preparation, both parents and students should feel better about the SSAT. Practice Makes Perfect, But Are You Doing It Right

Practice Makes Perfect, But Are You Doing It Right Suzy S. Yesterday we discussed some common excuses for not practicing and how to overcome them.   If youve already read that and corrected your mindset, the question remains:   How much do you really need to practice?   Theres a difference between mindless practicing and deliberate practicing read on to find out how to get the most out of your practice sessions, courtesy of this Bulletproof Musician blog post that we loved: Deliberate Practice So what is deliberate, or mindful practice? Deliberate practice is a systematic and highly structured activity, which is, for lack of a better word, scientific. Instead of mindless trial and error, it is an active and thoughtful process of experimentation with clear goals and hypotheses. Deliberate practice is often slow, and involves repetition of small and very specific sections of your repertoire instead of just playing through (e.g. working on just the opening note of your solo to make sure that it “speaks” exactly the way you want, instead of playing the entire opening phrase). Deliberate practice also   involves monitoring one’s performance (in real-time, but also via recordings), continually looking for new ways to improve. This means really listening to what happens, so that you can tell yourself exactly what went wrong. For instance, was the first note note sharp? Flat? Too loud? Too soft? Too harsh? Too short? Too long? Few musicians take the time to stop, analyze what went wrong, why it happened and how they can correct the error permanently.   Make that a habit during your practice sessions. 4 Keys For More Effective Practice 1. Duration Keep practice sessions limited to a duration that allows you to stay focused. This may be as short as 10-20 minutes for younger students (or if thats all you have time for), and as long as 45-60 minutes for older individuals. 2. Timing Keep track of times during the day when you tend to have the most energy. This may be first thing in the morning, or right before lunch, etc. Try to do your practicing during these naturally productive periods as these are the times at which you will be able to focus and think most clearly. 3. Goals Try using a practice notebook. Keep track of your practice goals and what you discover during your practice sessions. The key to getting into the “zone” when practicing is to be constantly striving to have clarity of intention. In other words, to have a clear idea of the sound you want to produce, or particular phrasing you’d like to try, or specific articulation, intonation, etc. that you’d like to be able to execute consistently. When you figure something out, write it down. As I practiced more mindfully, I began learning so much during practice sessions that if I didn’t write everything down, I’d forget. 4. Smarter, not harder Sometimes if a particular passage is not coming out the way we want it to, it just means we need to practice more. There are also times, however, when we don’t need to practice harder, but need an altogether different strategy or technique.   Think creatively. Make the time you do have count, and youll be well on your way to mastering the music.   Readers, do you have any of your own strategies to share?   As always, wed love to hear leave a comment below! It is similar to HIIT, or high intensity interval training, except that there are no rest breaks in between each exercise move.Because circuit training involves weight training and cardio exercises engaging your upper body and lower body, you will be able to feel a total body advantage, improving things like your metabolism and bod yweight. The goals of circuit training are based on three specific points:Losing weight through both aerobic and anaerobic exercisesAmeliorating your endurance through cardiovascular exerciseOverall muscle gain by working muscle groups through exercises or light gym equipment (kettlebell, dumbbell, etc.)Because of this, circuit training can have many benefits: allowing you to burn calories and lose body fat in a short amount of time, not needing to complete your workout routine at the gym, having a body workout session that is always varied and always fun, letting you challenge yourself in ways you never thought possible before. In general, women and men tend to have different goals when it comes to working out because of societal pressures and expectations. For example, women can often seek out training exercises and methods for weight loss, abdominal muscle gain and, of course, butt sculpting. Circuit training is a high intensity program that can allow you to, through classic exerci ses like push ups and squats, gain muscle while reinforcing your respiratory system.Circuit training is an amazing way for everyone who wants to take up an exercise program regularly, especially if you’re looking to get toned. This is especially true of circuit training that is geared towards women and their specific body fat goals.Check here for a personal trainer near me.Weight-loss Specific Circuit Training“When I’m happy on the inside, those are the moments I feel the sexiest” â€" Anna KournikovaThis advice, geared towards everyone, expresses the fact that everyone should feel the most attractive when they feel comfortable in their own skin. While many factors regarding beauty standards tend to be getting better, society still, unfortunately, prioritizes physical appearance over other indicators of beauty such as mental health or personality traits.Having a fit body, however, has less to do with simply physical appearance and is more about being a signal for a healthy sy stem. Often, a high, whole body weight can lead to many chronic diseases or illnesses â€" which is why circuit training is perfect for those looking for a flexible program and to burn fat and lose weight. One example of a circuit training session geared especially for weight loss is:Jumping jacksLungesPush upMountain climbersBurpeesPlankIf you’re following this workout, take 30 seconds to do each exercise move. After you finish one round, take a 3-minute rest break in order to recuperate. You can adapt the time you take for completing each move, the rest break, or even the moves themselves to follow your specific body targets (increasing muscle in biceps and glutes) and skill level (beginner or intermediate).Circuit training can also be completed in combination with other sports activities and with a personal trainer near me. Some examples of the training workouts you can complete in tandem with circuit training are swimming, tennis and running. One important note to keep in mind i s to always cool down after a workout and keep in touch with your body to watch out for any injuries. High impact workouts can be done with a personal trainer, alone or with friendsToning Muscles for a Healthier LifeBeing in perfect shape is complicated, especially because everyone’s body defines a different level of what is “perfect.” Women, however, tend to search for a full body workout that tones their body and, most of all, helps them feel comfortable in their own skin. There are an infinite number of cardio workouts and bodyweight exercises out there that can help you tone your body. Some examples of workouts you can use for building muscle are boxing, swimming and weight-lifting. One of the most important aspects to pay attention to when choosing a fitness program that’s right for you is to take into account what environment it is, regardless of what program you choose. Whether it be in a group course at the gym or at home alone, always make sure that you feel comfortable. If you’re interested in adapting circuit training to toning your body, an example of circuit trai ning that’s geared towards building muscle mass and muscular endurance is:Push ups/ wall pushupsTriceps or tricep dipsJump ropeSquatsSupermanPlankMountain climbersWhether you’re practicing a cardio workout, aerobic exercise or weight exercises in your circuit, make sure that you take 30 seconds to complete each move â€" increasing or decreasing this time depending on your abilities and goals. Take 3 to 4 minutes between each circuit as a rest break â€" making sure that you don’t take a rest break between each move.Toning your body is a difficult mission but can be possible with motivation and sacrifice. From wanting to lose fat, incorporate cardio exercise, and learning how to use equipment such as a barbell or medicine ball â€" taking part and sticking to circuit training can help you accomplish your dreams.Improve Your Cardio with Complete Circuit TrainingCardiovascular fitness can be one of the common fitness goals for women looking to get stronger and improve their blood c irculation. Cardiovascular strength depends on much more than strength exercises like jogging, but a total body workout that includes any exercises that’ll increase your heart rate. In other words, any exercise that gets you breathing hard is a good sign that you’re on the road towards increasing your cardiovascular endurance.Getting into the habit of completing a circuit workout can give you the benefit of increasing your metabolic rate, working your major muscle groups and, all the while, improving your cardiovascular system. You can also incorporate fat burning and toning circuit sessions with body weight exercises that allow both your heart and body to get fit. Here is an example of a circuit training session geared towards improving your cardiovascular system:Jumping jacksJump squatsRowingPushupsCrunchesPlankJump ropeBurpeesThis is one of the many examples of body workouts for weight loss that are, for the most part, geared towards building up your respiratory and cardiovasc ular system. It is also a perfect example of how circuit training can be adapted to each individual. Your personal fitness should also involve eating a healthy dietIf you’re looking to challenge yourself even further, you can add lifting weights to some exercise moves like lunges and pushups. Weight lifting is a great way to reinforce your muscles during any cardio workout. The most important thing to keep in mind while weight-lifting is to practice good form in order to avoid any sort of injuries. Some other advice that you can follow if you want to make sure you get the most out of your workout is drink water and eat a balanced diet. While working out, make sure you always have a bottle of water nearby and to take extra precautions when the weather is hotter or more humid. On the other hand, while the definition of a balanced diet tends to be specific to each individual, a general rule of thumb you can follow is to make sure the majority of your diet comes from whole plant foods and proteins.Lastly, make sure to find your motivation, whether that be attaining your “summer body, ” getting in shape for your loved ones or to improve your health. Understand, however, that getting the motivation to exercise and eat healthily can be sustained on the long term if your motivations are dependent on long term ideas like living a health life and being able to still run when you’re seventy. Remember, one of the most important things you can do for your body is to love your body.

Rules for Integers

Rules for Integers Integers are numbers which include all the positive and negative numbers and dont include fractions. Integers are denoted by Z. There are different rules which are applied to integers. Mentioned here are some useful rules applied for integers. Add/ subtract Integers: If the numbers have the same sign add the numbers and keep the sign. If numbers have different signs, subtract them and keep the sign of the integer with greater absolute value. Multiply/ Divide Integers: If the numbers have the same sign then the answer has a positive sign. If the numbers have opposite sign then the answer has a negative sign. Example 1: Find the solution for 3 [ 2 + (6 - 10) ]? Solution: Given is 3 [2 + (6 - 10) ] integers with different mathematical operations. Start with the inner bracket (6 -10) = -4 This gives 3 [2 + ( 4)]. Now 3 [ 2 4 ] = 3 [ -2 ]. Multiplying the integers with opposite signs gives 3 * - 2 = -6. Hence the solution to the question is -6. Example 2: Find the solution for 5 [ 7 + (12 - 15) ]? Solution: Given is 5 [7 + (12 - 15) ] integers with different mathematical operations. Start with the inner bracket (12 -15) = -3 This gives 5 [7 + ( 3)]. Now 5 [ 7 4 ] = 5 [ 3 ]. Multiplying the integers with same signs gives 5 * 3 = 15. Hence the solution to the question is 15.

New York University A Student Perspective

New York University A Student Perspective The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teachtheyre sharing their college experiences as well. Casey is a sophomore at New York University studying psychology. She specializes in trigonometry tutoring, psychology tutoring, and several other subjects. See what she had to say about her experience at New York University: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Casey: New York University prides itself on being in and of the city. Its located in Washington Square Park in the middle of Manhattan. Since our campus is around Washington Square Park, its very urban, but we have plenty of green space and trees as well. There are free NYU buses to take students from the farther away upperclassman dorms downtown, but everything on campus is maybe a 10 minute walk away, at most. If you need to get around, New York has such a vast transit system that nobody has a car. Theres a bike share program that I dont use, but Ive heard its wonderful. How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Casey: The professors are amazingly helpful theyre mandated to have office hours, and if those dont work for you, theyll work around your schedule. TAs are the same, and the TAs Ive had classes for are so caring about their students. My academic advisor has been a lifesaver throughout the registration processes and the day-to-day little problems that come up. They only have a handful of students, so you can go to them for just about everything. How would you describe the dorm liferooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students at New York University? Casey: Dorm life at NYU is such a great environment. The freshman dorms are freshman-only and build such a community between students. Our RAs took us on amazing trips and I befriended almost every of the forty-something people on my floor. Most of the dorms are feet away from classes, but some of the upperclassman dorms are a short walk, 15 minutes at most. There are dining halls in many of the dorms, but nobody is too far away from food. There are apartment-style suites with kitchenettes, as well as traditional style dorms that dont have a kitchen. One thing Ive loved about NYU dorming is that every single room has its own bathroom; that means no communal showers. Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Casey: NYU has virtually every major imaginable and even a school for students who wish to create their own major. There are dozens of support options and career counseling options available to every student, regardless of what they are trying to pursue. I am studying Psychology at the College of Arts and Sciences and Cinema Studies, which is a cross-school major with the College of Arts and Sciences and Tisch School of the Arts. All of the majors have their own advising network of academic advisors and accredited professors. Ive been very satisfied with the support I have gotten. How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Casey: Making friends as a freshman was a little scary the first day or two, but it was extremely easy to meet people. I met my best friend by complimenting her skirt when I saw her in the elevator, and weve been inseparable ever since. NYU isnt that big on Greek Life, but I know a handful of people who are involved, and they highly recommend it. How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services at New York University? Casey: The career center is amazing and has been pivotal for me in securing internships. NYU has such a vast alumni network that wants to recruit undergrads for every area imaginable. There are so many student support services. There is peer tutoring, skill-building services, and study slams for every subject imaginable. There are great support services for diverse student groups at NYU, such as resources for LGBTQ+ students and the Moses Center for Disabilities. NYU has a center for physical and mental health, as well as a 24-hour Wellness Center helpline. They offer regular checkups for various health concerns as well as flu shots and the like. Theres also so many resources for mental health at NYU, including meditation and yoga classes. How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Casey: NYUs library is beautiful. Its a gigantic building, and Ive always found a place to study (even during finals). There are student lounges in almost every classroom, in the student center, and every dorm that provide a great space to hang out or get work done. Describe the surrounding town. Casey: NYUs surrounding town is New York City. Theres always stuff to do from a Broadway show, to sports games, to awesome food and nightlife options. Youll never be bored! How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Casey: NYUs student body is around 20,000 students, but it feels a lot smaller. My class sizes ranged from lecture halls to 10 person seminars. As it is at most colleges, class size gets smaller as you get past the introductory classes. Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Casey: One of my favorite classes was my freshman year seminar. The professor, Eddy, taught me and ten other freshman for the semester and we all became so close. The class was on film and television in the U.S., and it ranged from the 40s to the present. This class encouraged me to follow my passions and study the subjects that interest me. I am still in contact with the professor to this day. Check out Caseys tutoring profile.
